Dating of the SVN Snapshots

Sun Mar 11, 2007 6:53 am
Personally, I find that the way the snapshots are currently named to be far from optimal. I always have to search through the list to find the proper month and then the proper year. Having the first portion of the date be the day causes the files to be sorted by the day of the month, mixing up each month and each year.

I know that it's typical in Europe to display the date as DD-MM-YYYY, but I would suggest that for sorting purposes, it would work _much_ better if the snapshots were named with the date formatted as YYYY-MM-DD. It would make it quick and easy to locate the most recent snapshot, and if you needed to have them in chronological order for some reason, then they would be in it already. As it stands, putting them in chronological order would be a chore and finding the most recent snapshot takes me longer than I would like given that a simple reordering of the date would make it much faster.

OK then, I still haven't generated the package of this weekend, so this will be the first package with YYYY-MM-DD as formating.

I should probably have said something sooner, since it's been bothering me for months. But oh well. It will be a nice and useful change. Thanks for all your hard work! I'm definitely a big ktorrent fan.
