Hello everybody,

(nearly) everything was working well - until I decided to limit upoad traffic to 15KB/s. Now I didn't have any traffic any more. At the beginning I didn't realize the traffic limitation could be responsible and I suspected my SP to shape my traffic. But then I have reset upload limit to 0 (oo) and traffic recovered. In the beginning...
Traffic raised and raised. By now I have about 40000KB/s.

With my ADSL 2000kbit/s connection.

see: http://www.ran-dom.org/screenshot-ktorrent.png

"Ein boot macht alles wieder gut" I thought and restarted ktorrent. But the behaviour doesnt change. It seems to me that after I changed and reset the upload limit the bandwidth information is accumulated now. How can that be?

To sum it up:
- limiting upload bandwidth doesn't make ktorrent to limit
upload-bandwidth but to kill the download
- messing with the upload limit makes ktorrent to accumulate
measured bandwidth.

Version is: 2.1.2 (Gentoo)

It's very early for me right now, so please forgive me my foolery if everything is my fault in the end.

h.a.n.d.

We have had people complain about extremely high speeds being shown in the GUI (obviously not actual speeds).

But I have never been able to reproduce this, let alone fix it.

It's the first time anybody has tied this with the upload limit. I'm gonna take a hard look at the speed calculation and upload limit code, maybe I can find something.

I'm getting exactly the same behavior as Frans mentioned from 2.1.2 and 2.1.3. I can duplicate the behavior by setting an upload speed limit, and then setting that limit to zero (unlimited upload speed). Both download and upload speeds accumulate to extremely high values in the torrent window, but the info widget's Status tab seems to remain correct for Average Upload and Download speeds. At least they are much more reasonable values.

Another effect of setting any limit on Upload speed is that downloading seems to slow down to 0.1 KB/s. Removing the Upload speed limit allows downloading to resume at "normal" speeds, with the displayed speeds in the torrent window accumulating abnormally as mentioned.

The upload speed limiting code must be doing something to place a severe limit on download speed when a limit is set, and also mess up the torrent window's speed calcs when the limit is removed.

When I'm having this problem, i have memory leaks. Maybe this will help you localizing this problem.

Here's my leak.out and analysis result.

edit: And again, today program just started working ok - i've done nothing (ktorrent was minimized to tray). This time leaks looks very similar to those above, so maybe it's not related.

OK, let mi refresh this topic :)

Few days ago this error came back like boomerang.

Now i'm seeing really big memory consumption. It can allocate 1GB memory in about 3-4 hours.

I tried to do leak-analyze again, but it looks, like it can't find those leaks:
Total : 76556 leaks, 34085688 bytes leaked

Here's leak.out and leak-analyze file.
