Hi,
I've been using ktorrent (vers 2.1) for some weeks now - brilliant app! I'd like to request a new feature - the ability to set priority for individual torrent downloads, in cases where there are more than one torrent downloading simultaneously. The 'priority' would determine how much of the total upload/download bandwidth gets allocated to that torrent. Here's how I'd see a 'torrent properties' feature working: on each torrent's 'Status' pane, just underneath the 'Sharing' group, could be a 'Priority' group. In that group would be a combo box field labelled 'Priority', with values ranging between 1 (highest) and 9 (lowest), defaulting to 5 (medium). This would allow a user to favour one or more torrents for faster downloading, without needing to pause all the other torrents (as is the case with the present 2.1 version). In the implementation, it could be enough to just allocate the upstream bandwidth according to priority, using a scheme such as exponentially-decaying, logarithmically-growing share. Thoughts? Cheers aum |
