Just lost 1 GB of downloaded data because I'm an idiot.
In the file browser of an active download, where you can select/unselect specific files to download and set their priority, I accidentally clicked on the download checkbox of a subdirectory instead of the "+"-sign on the left of the box. So, instead of opening the directory to see the progress of the files inside, I deleted all files in that directory. Sure that's my fault, but a little question like "Do you really want to kill days of downloaded data?" would have been nice. Maybe that can be made optional, so the less clumsy users don't get **** off by permanent Windows-like "Do you really? Want that? Hm? Really? Are you sure?"-questions. Another nice feature would be an option to get notified when one file of a big torrent has finished downloading. This should also be optional, maybe the user could enter a minimum file size for that notification, so that his desktop doesn't get unusable when downloading many small files. Anyway, thanks for this wonderful program! |

What version of KTorrent are you using? I'm pretty sure that this has been fixed. Certainly it seems to be fixed in the SVN snapshot and I thought that the fix was long enough ago that it would have been in at least the most recent stable release of KTorrent, if not the one before. |

You're right, I'm using KTorrent 2.0.2.
Well, after surviving the first shock, having a nap and restarting KTorrent today, all the lost downloads are back to their old percentage. So it looks like they actually haven't been deleted? *puh* Just to be curious: When _does_ a download get deleted? After disabling it and quitting KTorrent before reenabling the download? Sorry for posing stupid questions while not using the latest stable release, but I don't feel like upgrading while there's a huge download in progress. |

As far as I'm aware, KTorrent only deletes data if you either tell it to delete the torrent _and_ the data (by right clicking on the torrent and selecting that option) or if you right click on a file in the file view and select "Delete File(s)". Other than that, it shouldn't delete your data - even if you tell it to stop downloading a specific file.
Now, KTorrent _used to_ delete the data when you told it to stop downloading a file, but it shouldn't do that any more. Unfortunately, I don't know which version it was changed in - I always use SVN snapshots - but if your data is there now, then the change was made in or before the version you're running now. |
