When I'm downloading an archive of files, I often want some files in the archive first. TV season packs are a good example. KTorrent already lets me set the priority of certain files, which is great.
But there's a problem with public trackers. It often occurs that a peer disconnects while you're downloading a chunk. KTorrent will then wait, and wait, for that peer to come back and seed that specific chunk. That way a file inside a torrent, with high download priority, can be stuck for hours. The only way to resolve this quickly, that I know of, is to restart the entire torrent, which is bad for many reasons. I request a feature that lets me manually tell KTorrent to look for other peers for a specific chunk. (Alternatively a restart of that chunk.) My suggestion is a context menu on right click in the Chunks tab. It would also be nice if KTorrent would automatically look for other peers for a transfer that has been inactive for a long while, e.g. 30 minutes. Thanks for your great work with this application, devs. It's been wonderful to see KTorrent evolve! |
