The newest SVN snapshot (2007-04-21) appears to have added a new dialog that pops up when you're opening a .torrent file. The first dialog asks you where you want to save the data - just like it has in previous versions. However, there is a new dialog that follows it that allows you to select the group for the torrent and other interesting stuff. It's potentially a very useful dialog. However, it has a bug. It does not honor the download location that was selected in the previous dialog.
For instance, let's say I want to download to /home/username/torrents. I select it in the first dialog. When I get to the second dialog it still has /home/username selected as the download location. The selection in the first dialog was ignored. My suggestion would be to either eliminate the first dialog - leaving the selection of the download location in the second dialog - or to remove the selection of the download location from the second dialog, letting the first dialog deal with it. In either case, the current behavior needs to be fixed. Just the same, the new dialog is certainly nice. |

I just opened a .torrent file. First it gives me a dialog titled "Select folder for data of file:[file location]". It's a standard KDE dialog with the Desktop, Home, etc. shortcuts on the left and a tree view of the file system on the right. I'm pretty sure that this has been the standard dialog for choosing the destination to save a torrent's data for a while now.
After I have selected a location to save the file, I get a new dialog that I have never seen before. It is titled: "Select Which Files You Want to Download". It has the location to save the data at the top, with a drop down box under it to select the group for the torrent and a check box next to it to select whether or not it is User Controlled. Under that is a box with the torrent files in it where they can be selected or deselected for download. I see it on every .torrent file that I open. Perhaps you have a set location where all your torrents get downloaded to and that's why you don't see it. The other odd thing is that it does a data integrity check on every torrent after the second dialog. I don't have a clue why it would do that for new torrents since there isn't going to be any data, but it does it anyway. Both that and the second dialog appear to be new with the 2007-04-21 SVN snapshot. |
