Hah, yes the commandline approach to compiling would work, but the idea of compiling it in KDevelop is so I can run through the code in debug to get a sense of what the program does.

KDevelop will just call the same commandline tools as you do, so it's just to see if everything compiles properly and you have all the necessary stuff.
