new popup annoyances

Tue May 08, 2007 5:33 pm
Could that new popup stuff be a bit refined? It'd be nice if it didn't show instantly when I place the cursur upon ktorrent's icon (every time I want to see ktorrent's window when its minimized to tray. this popup appears) and if it disappeared when I moved the mouse away from the icon (it stays there for a second or two). With current state of things, I'm forced to see that popup for like 2 seconds every time I want to see ktorrent's window when it's in tray.

OK, how about a show timer of 5 seconds, after 5 seconds of hovering we show it.

I think 1 or 2 seconds would be enough. amarok's popup works like that.

It still misbehaves - it does trigger after some time all right, but even if the cursor isn't placed on the icon anymore.

One minor issue I have noticed, is the popup will overlay the context menu. Example:

I will right click on the menu to change speed limits and the popup will cover most the menu, so I have to go from memory or wait a couple of seconds for it to disappear. Ideally if the context menu would not show up or disappear if you click on the icon would be best.

OK, it will now hide and stay hidden when the menu is activated

I fixed "my" issue by putting show_timer.stop() in TrayHoverPopup::leaveEvent(). Additionally, I think that setting timeout to 1000 instead of 2000 is a better solution.

Oi, George, I don't whether you have read my messages above. It still isn't "fixed".

Perhaps you don't think it is broken in the first place ;-)
