New features

I would like to see DHT implemented properly. We need to have Azureus DHT since almost no one uses the official bittorrent program. I would also like to see more features similar to Azureus and utorrent. Since Azureus is open source, we should be able to copy a lot from it and have ktorrent be the lightweight KDE linux native version of it.

What happend to the peer list and the bottom part from 2.1.
I am disappointed with 2.2 since it is a little too different.
Most people don't like change. So try to add stuff without changing too much.

KTorrent's DHT implementation is compatible with mainline/bitcomet/utorrent's, thus a significant percentage of clients in the swarm.

Nothing has disappeared, just was moved a bit. Once you get used to it, you learn to appreciate it.

No one uses mainline DHT? Roughly half of the bittorrent client population use mainline DHT. Azureus comprises the other half. I wouldn't say that's nobody. In the future it'd be NICE if we can be compatible with both DHT implementations, but right now mainline DHT + uTorrent PEX gets us a nice set of peers even with all trackers down. I've done a lot of testing locally with simulating down trackers via iptables banning, and can say that KTorrent is every bit as competent as uTorrent, Azureus, or any other major torrenting client at locating the swarm.

Well, if you want to add AZ compatible DHT, be my guest and add it. But I have no intention to implement 2 incompatible standards for the same thing.

Which features ?

The UI is a lot cleaner now, and if you don't see the peer list, load the infowidget plugin, it is still there. We only moved it a bit.
