I switched from azureus to ktorrent, hoping to bring down system load. It went straight up.

I grabbed the biggest torrents I could find for testing, one 50gb and one 100gb, both with a high number of files. While seeding one and downloading the other my iowait goes through the roof, and ktorrent cpu usage with it.

Unfortunatly I wont be able to supply the torrents or do much further testing, as I need this up and running as quickly as possible. But I imagine the problem will be quite reproducable with huge torrents.

//edit, the guy who owns this box has decided to leave it running for a while longer, so I will be able to debug ktorrent a bit if someone needs specific information.

//edit2, high load average continues after download is completed, and it's seeding the two torrents, although it's lower than it was (load avg now 0.75).

This high load continues even if the torrent is downloading ?

at first I was downloading one and seeding the other. Now I'm only seeding. And both times I've had really high load.

When I allocate a new file now it stops uploading alltogether, and the ui hangs.

I haven't tried only downloading, but I assume it's the size of the file that's causing issues (maybe cache issues, ending up reading from new places on the disk at all time?).

//edit, I can't really test downloading only atm, I'm completely out of space to allocate files that size.

I haven't got that much space left either. But I'll see if I can reproduce this.
