"corrupt" field in announce request

Sat Nov 03, 2007 9:58 pm
Since some time ago Azureus (and uTorrent?) aren't using corrupted data for the "downloaded" field, but they have added a new field "corrupt" to inform the tracker about downloaded bad data.

Could be a good idea to add it also to KTorrent before some trackers start banning clients that don't inform about it.

I guess we could add that, but what good is a tracker with this information if it only counts the number of corrupted bytes ? It means somebody is sending bad stuff, but you have no idea who, so you cannot ban him or her.

God knows. But I can see some private trackers wanting to count good+bad data when calculating the ratio. Do not makes sense, and "discarded" data is still not count and so you don't have *all* the data, but...
Since this would not add a noticeable overhead I would be in the safe side.

Currently we don't keep track of the number of corrupted bytes.

Anyway, we will add it in the KDE4 version.
