Small Feature Req: time left

Sun Nov 18, 2007 10:12 am
Would it be possible to make it so that the time left is counted with current speed instead of average speed. Could you make a small patch of something that fixes this or tell me how to change it myself, if its not more than changing some words in a .txt file or something. I have zero experience in programing. I'm running 2.2.1 btw.

Thanks for an otherwise great program!

Settings -> Configure KTorrent -> Advanced -> ETA algorithm -> Current Speed.

Sorry if I am asking for the obvious, but is there also a way to have the remaining ETA displayed for individual files in a multi file torrent?

Thanks

I doubt this is possible since you as a single peer dont have too much control over which chunks are available to you.

that's of course right, however I was mainly thinking of something like a very simple estimation based on current availability and transfer speed, from that angle this info wouldn't really be any different from what's already being provided for total torrents, would it?

All the best,

It is difficult to correctly estimate this, seeing that you do not know which is going to be the next chunk selected (it might be in the file you are estimating for, but it also might not be), so current speed of download for a file is in no way indicative of when it will be done.
