KTorrent window spilling off screen

Mon Dec 03, 2007 12:23 am
I have been using KTorrent for a bit now on centos, but I have an issue which is very bothersome. I am using screen share on my mac to connect, but the window is always too big, and spilling off the screen. I can't resize the window to make it smaller.

I just upgraded to 2.2.4 hoping that would fix it, but it didn't

Try holding down ALT, then right-click on the KTorrent window, and drag.

Funny thing is, I never saw this reply. I still have the same problem, and that doesn't fix it, it is as if it is at it's minimum vertical size. I can resize it horizontally, but not vert. A few things, I am viewing it over VNC. I was running it under gnome, but then I figured maybe that was the problem. Same problem though under KDE

I think I have an idea what is wrong though. Still not sure how to fix it...

In the ktorrentrc file it has the following section:
[BottomToolWindow]
ViewLastWidget=Files
ViewWidth=3159

My height is the problem, but 3159 sounds about right (the window is really really tall). I think the problem is there are so many files in this torrent that on startup it sets the width (which is actually the height) to such a ridiculous number, and doesn't allow a resize under that amount.

I have a lot of trouble believing I am the only person who has this problem (especially if that is the issue).

I have not experienced this behavior yet, but try this :

First unload the infowidget plugin, then see if you can make it smaller. If you can reload it again. Then try disabling the 3 tabs of the plugin which can be disabled (in the settings page of the infowidget). Do it one at a time so that you can figure out which one is causing it. If it is none of those 3, it must be other two (status or files tab)

It's definitely one of the other 2 then, I can resize fine when it is disabled, but the moment I enable it again (even with all options deselected) it breaks. I have found a few bugs opened up about it, but apparently no one can ever reproduce it

Not sure what you mean by weird to see, it always opens in files, and I can't switch to the other tabs since it is off the screen. I can't even see all the files in most torrents because they go off the screen. It is never resizable for me, no matter what I do. Even if I have no torrents loaded, I can't resize it

What if you unload the RSS plugin and then load the infowidget plugin ?

I tried unloading the RSS and InfoWidget, resized it, loaded info widget, same problem, still won't resize and still very big.

It looks like a combination of everything worked. I had no torrents loaded, I unloaded info widget, closed KTorrent, deleted ~/.kde/share/config/ktorrentrc, then loaded KTorrent again and loaded the info widget. Now, it is no longer off the screen.
