[Feature Request] Webseed

Sat Dec 29, 2007 1:59 am
I'd like to see ktorrent supporting getright webseeds on the "downloading side" http://getright.com/seedtorrent.html

I'd really like to see single- and multifile support (Deluge is currently the only client supporting multi-file torrents properly (from what i've tested), azureus and µtorrent will follow)

Aren't there multiple ways of doing webseed at the moment? (I know bittornado has a spec online.)

What do you mean with multi file support? KTorrent supported this some versions ago already.

My interest belongs to getright method. I know there are at least 2 webseed methods, but I don't have much interested in the bittornado method yet (Too complicated on the server side).

I mentioned multifile torrents, just because I see that µtorrent and azureus have/had problems with it.
µtorrent doesn't support multifile torrent webseed at all at the moment.

Webseeding is a bit silly, imho.

And do you mean multifile in webseeding? That isn't really an issue yet, as there isn't any support for "webseeding" in ktorrent yet.

I have started on implementing it (the GetRight method), but I don't know if it will be part of 3.0. Most likely it will be shifted to 3.1.

No it's not silly :)

I created a jsp app which displays files like an apache server does (Index of /)
so you can upload files via FTP and then click on the files inside the JSP app and then it automatically creates a torrent-file (for a file or a directory) (if not yet existent). And because it's not easy to trigger a normal seed from that webpage i need webseed. (the file is also available via http, so all i do is create a link inside the torrent file). It's just extremely easy and transparent and everything!

and i just mentioned multi file torrents because i was dissapointed by azureus and utorrent and i don't want to be dissapointed again.

Thanks

The intention is to support both multifile and single file webseeding.
