Hi,

I have a small bug on a french tracker.

If i have a multi-file torrent, then i select only a few of that file, the torrent is not marked as seed, but download instead...

Is it normal ? For me it should be marked as competed and seed instead of unfinished download...

Thx for your answer.

We will only send a completed event to the tracker when all files are downloaded.

May that be changed ?

I ask it because i often download half or some torrent.

For example there are 195Go torrent and i can't seed the whole torrent with a 100Go hard disk...

The other problem is tracker that limit the number of torrent in download.

If you choose to not dl the .nfo or one file you have from an other torrent is trash a download slot even if completed.

It would be great to change this.

I think it's more about tracker how it see your torrent. Does torrent protocol has information like "status"? Or does client gives inform about downloaded files and tracker decide about status itself?

No the status is client side only, there are only events in the session time which are given in the announce.

Telling a tracker we have all the data, while we do not, is not a good idea

I agree with you, but we can't realy keep finished partial download as pending download.

The set of file is finished in fact.

I should read the spec to see the different status sent back to the tracker.

If the there is no other way i suggest this change as it will solve many people trouble.

The other possibility is to document ktorrent way of beeing when a torrent is partialy finished to allow the tracker to stop count it as a not finished download.
(but this is the hard way)

Nope, this is exactly what George meant: the tracker should see a torrent with not all files selected for download as not yet completed/unfinished. So nothing would change, only client side maybe but that is up to George.

Y i understood that.

But there is maybe a way to detect the client a fully finished the file it has to download.

For example :
3/5 file download,
no download request for x time,
X %download,
whatever.

Once we have all the chunks of all the selected files, the download is finished for KT.

I understood that, but then what is sent to the tracker.

I need that info to fix my tracker and help other to detect that partial download when finished and mark them as finished and not download...
