Bug in Upload Speed (2.2.5)

Sun Feb 17, 2008 6:09 am
Ktorrent v2.2.5
Platform: Ubuntu 7.10
Summary: Bug in Upload Speed [ n =/= (n+1) ]

Description: If the upload speed is set "n" kb/s, then Ktorrent sets the upload speed to "n+1" kb/s for setting speed limits on individual torrents.

Example: For dialup users, they are no longer able to set the upload speed to 1 kb/s per torrent, because if you set your upload speed to 1 kb/s, it will upload at 2 kb/s for any given individual torrent. A less severe scenario is a DSL or Cable internet user wanting to upload at 13 kb/s for a torrent and actually getting 14 kb/s. The fix for the DSL or Cable user is to set the upload to 12 kb/s, but such a fix does not work for dialup users since the upload speed is an integer, not floating point (example: 0.7 kb/s).

I am sorry you feel that way, many dialup users would definately disagree harshly with you on that comment.

Whenever I use a cell phone to dialup, I only have a 9.6 Kbits/s modem. I can guarantee that this will barely be able to strike the 1 kbytes/s mark.

I still consider this a bug in KTorrent, because what you type in as the upload speed should be the actual upload speed (n =/= n+1).
