Feature Request: torrent migration

Tue Feb 19, 2008 5:20 pm
Hi,

I've 2 PCs at home. Some times I start a torrent download from my notebook, at work, but whould be nice to "migrate" it to the desktop when back to home.

My sugestion is to add a new feature, maybe as a plugin, to enable ktorrent clients to directly comunitation. This communication should be used to copy/migrate a torrent download from one host to another.

Of course, this feature is intendet to be used on a LAN, since it can trasnfer lots of bytes, demanding high speed network (not my poor 800KB ADSL).

One could call this the Kmigrate plugin.

You could just sync the data via rsync.

Are you sure ? I mean, the files on my disk are pre-allocated. Doesn't rsync "truncate" it before transfers ? I known that a simple cp throuth nfs doesn't works as expected.

Anyway, it would be a nice feature to ktorrent.

Interesting proposition, but it will probably take quite some time before I can get to this, at the moment I have some big things planned (webseeding to name one).

Well, if you are too busy, I could take a lok at this. I'd need some tips, like what files would be involved on the task; how to create a plugins, etc...

Fell free to contact me.
