the package is made with the emerge script that uses the svn version, and it's build by Christian Ehrlicher, should I ask him to build 3.1beta2 or the latest svn version is ok too?

ktorrent didn't link to the library files well.
ktorrent.exe trying to find the files in /bin instead of /lib
so i have move the files (ktcore.dll, btcore.dll....) to the /bin.

then, i tried to launch ktorrent, nothing happened, no error, nothing.
hmm... anyone?

that's because you have to add lib to PATH too
lately I have some problem launching KUniqueApplication on windows(and ktorrent is one of those) maybe you have this problem too, but I haven't figured out what's the problem maybe kdelibs

i install ktorrent from the kde windows installer. maybe this is caused by the installer itself.

I have managed to install on Vista Home Premium, I get "KTorrent has stopped working" immediately. I'm afraid I know of nothing else to do.

OK. I've tried the windows version for the first time. I've installed it with the installer, and added bin and lib to my path. I also tried adding lib\kde4. I still just get "ktorrent.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I tried running kdeinit4.exe first, and that seems to work, and starts klauncher, kded4, and dbus, but that doesn't affect ktorrent's success. These processes don't appear if I just try to run ktorrent.exe, as they would on linux.

Any hints?

This is the bat file I use to setup all the environment variables. I have added these to the windows environment variables, so I don't have to run it every time.

@set SOURCE_PATH=C:\kde\kdelibs-src
@set INSTALL_PATH=C:\kde

@set DBUSDIR=%INSTALL_PATH%
@set KDEDIRS=%INSTALL_PATH%
@set KDEWIN_DIR=%INSTALL_PATH%
@set PATH=%INSTALL_PATH%\bin;%INSTALL_PATH%\MinGW\libexec\gcc\mingw32\3.4.5;%INSTALL_PATH%\MinGW\bin;%INSTALL_PATH%\MinGW\lib;%INSTALL_PATH%\lib;%PATH%
@set QT_PLUGIN_PATH=%INSTALL_PATH%\lib\kde4\plugins;%INSTALL_PATH%\plugins
@set STRIGI_HOME=%INSTALL_PATH%
@set XDG_DATA_DIRS=%INSTALL_PATH%\share

Obviously these need to be modified for your local setup.

Shouldn't the kde-windows installer be taking care of that kind of thing?

I don't package ktorrent for windows, that's up to the KDE windows developers.

KTorrent doesn't seem to be included anymore, last time I asked about that on their mailing list, I didn't get any replies. Project seemed to be dead at the time.
