multiple torrent opening

Sat Apr 12, 2008 6:55 pm
so... i have decided to use linux for a while. but i have a lot of unfinished and finished torrents, which i was downloading using uTorrent under win. it would have been very convenient to open a lot of .torrents at the same time and to assign the save location for each of them separately, but that is not possible, because ktorrent assigns some random location for all of them automatically. please fix it, it would have been very comfortable.

btw, ktorrent crashes if more than 3 check windows are opened. "checking" status just like in utorrent, would have been more desirable.

thank you.

You can set a default save location in the settings. If that is not available, we will use your home directory.

Concerning that crash, have you got a backtrace ? And which version are you using ?

setting the default loc won't do it,because i need to categorize all those dls to folders such as music, video, etc etc etc

may i request a feature, that will not just state ""qwerty" file exists" when i try to transfer a dl from a folder to the one, that has a part of files semicomplete, with the help of move data command? it would be nice, if it would just check the corresponding chunks of two versions of files present on the file system and write the best choice out of two to the destination? just a merger.

i use 3.0.1, but unfortunately i am not able to reproduce that crash again for some reason.

We have added group policies in the current SVN version, for each group you can setup a default save location.

If you then select the group in the file select dialog, the location will be changed to that.

Further more you can also now choose whether you want to see the dialog or not when you open multiple torrents.

With these changes you can easily get each in torrent in the directory you want by setting up a group per directory and selecting the right one in the file select dialog.
