KTorrent rox... in PowerTOP :(

Sun May 18, 2008 8:18 pm
Could such a big amount of wakeups be somehow avoided?

Code: Select all
     PowerTOP version 1.9       (C) 2007 Intel Corporation

Cn                Avg residency       P-states (frequencies)
C0 (CPU aktywny)        (76,8%)         1,60 GHz     0,0%
C1                0,0ms ( 0,0%)          800 MHz   100,0%
C2                0,0ms ( 2,8%)
C3                0,0ms (20,4%)

Wakeups-from-idle per second : 45156,0  interval: 3,0s
szacowanie użycia energii ACPI jest niedostępne

Top causes for wakeups:
  33,7% (304,3)          ktorrent : futex_wait (hrtimer_wakeup)
  27,7% (249,7)       <interrupt> : acpi, b43
  27,5% (248,0)       <interrupt> : PS/2 keyboard/mouse/touchpad
   3,5% ( 31,7)             opera : schedule_timeout (process_timeout)
   1,8% ( 16,7)              Xorg : do_setitimer (it_real_fn)

This happens for all the time I use KTorrent. This is not just a temporary situation. I use KTorrent 3.0.2 and I have 1 active torrent. This value of wakeups is between 290 and 310. Sometimes it gets ~100 or ~400 but only for a short moment (one survey).

Can I provide more info to help debugging? Or is this enought?

We could probably reduce it a bit, but without wakeups we can't get any stuff done.

Is this possible to check how rtorrent manage with torrents and use it's method somehow? Sorry if I talk about something totally impossible ;) Just saw that rtorrent uses about 20 wakeups instead of our 300.
