I use Suse 10.3 and ktorrent 2.2.6-0.pm1.
After updating ktorrent I found something strange happening on my root drive. Within hours of starting to download torrents, my root drive/partition, to which I have given over 20GB, was full!!!??? This had never happened in the last 2 years of using Suse linux and ktorrent. I am a network engineer and have a bit of knowledge about computers, so I back-tracked and found that the problem only started with the update of ktorrent. Apparently there is a bug in the new version. This bug puts files in a directory called /tmp on the root partition and doesn't clear them out. The temporary files just add up until the partition is full, I mean 0GB space, not one iota of space left. Just to make sure, I stopped using ktorrent and started with Azureus and presto, the problem was solved. As I type this the root partition has remained at a constant 40% full for the last 5 weeks and the /tmp directory has a total of 3.2MB of files in it. I have been waiting for this issue to be brought up by others, but since no-one has, I thought I would do it. Hopefully there will be a correction with the next update. |

Not sure anymore. I haven't used in about 4-6 weeks. I have been using Azureus since I discovered the problem. I have just downloaded the latest version of ktorrent using YAST. I'll give that a try and see if the problem persists. If it does, I'll let you know what the tmp files are called.
