As of version 3.1.2, ktorrent does not appear to support socks4a. This is the most desirable socks version to use with secure proxies as it allows to resolve hostnames through the proxy. In this way, dns requests are not revealing as they are handled by the proxy.

The feature has recently made its way into a beta of utorrent (an option to resolve hostnames through proxy). I would like to see socks4a in ktorrent as well.

Would it be possible to see it in an upcoming version of ktorrent?

We are not going to support this, hostname resolving is done by KDE, if you want to resolve hostnames via the socks proxy, you will need to setup KDE to do that.
