Please allow deletion of the default tracker. This is linux: an open source environment which should be free to the user.
See screenshot to KTorrent version (I can not upgrade without root). Sorry, please allow the forum to upload screenshots of errors. I will not be able to show errors until the forum is upgraded. Thanks, John

One reason: SSL.
If you have a torrent running on http://tracker.prq.to/announce, one of the larger public trackers, then you may want to change it to run on SSL, https://tracker.prq.to/announce, to privatize your torrenting from your ISP. Also, simply adding the SSL tracker does not always solve the problem because if the SSL tracker times out, KTorrent immediately goes to the next tracker (the default tracker). Another reason: DHT If your ISP blocks trackers altogether by their IP, you may want to delete the tracker altogether and allow the torrent to be tracked solely via DHT. Another reason: User friendliness Please consider this as a "suggestion" for improvement, Thanks, John

Only KDE works with the latest version of KTorrent. This does not help the majority of linux users that run Ubuntu, OpenSuse, or Sun. Can you please enable this in a version 2.x if you are still developing this version? Can you please port the latest version to non-KDE linux users?
Thanks.

2.2.x is not being developed, 3.x is (for >= KDE 4.1). And the whole idea behind KTorrent was to create a BitTorrent client for KDE from the beginning. Despite that, it can be used in any other desktop environment just fine (just KDE 4 runtime is necessary). And your claims about Ubuntu, OpenSuse are wrong, KDE 4.1 is available for those distributions one way or another. |
