simple UI enhancement?

Thu Oct 09, 2008 6:27 am
I saw one small issue that I believe can be improved upon - the "Time Left" could be made more usable if the seconds would be left out. I don't see any user missing the exact second when his file would be done, minutes are precise enough.

And what I see that doesn't make much sense is that the seconds are "jupming around" I now have 44:15, secold later I have 44:40, then 44:54, then 44:20... etc...

Maybe you could consider to only display minutes also for all "time" related info like "Time downloaded", "Time seeded", etc...

One thing that also could be done regarding more precise time estimate is to take in account average download speed and not only the current download speed. Current download speed is far from constant and that makes calculating anything with it a fast moving target.

Is this the proper way and proper place for suggesting this? If not please point me in the right dirrection.

Thank you for your great work! I love ktorrent!

Cheers from Croatia,
Valent.

And what happens when the estimate drops below a minute ?

The estimation algorithm can be configured in the settings, and we do not use current speed as the default way of estimating the time left.

What ever you like, you can leave one minute, or switch to seconds, or put "under 1min"

Now I see "5 days 9:05:47" and there are multiple colums, that in order to fit the window to 1280x1024 I need to remove some colums (loosing data) so I believe that it would be better if you could somehow shorten the display. That could be done in number of ways and I would't care how. Maybe firtst "over 5 days" or "> 5 days" or "5:09:05: or "129:09" ...
