I have a big torrent that I update manually (i.e. I got the files somewhere else and put them in the correct directory).

Then when I check data, it takes too many time, as it checks lots of data that I have and ktorrent knows that I have... If only missing data was checked the operation would take significantly less time.

So, I would like to request a new operation: Check Data (only missing) :D

Regards

Hello

That feature would be quite useful for me as well.

So, at least 2 people want this

Can any developer say if it's a good ideia to be implemented somewhere in the future?

Keep up the great work :D

How would KTorrent know if any of your OK data is really OK if it doesn't check it?

The same way as it knows (not) if the data is really ok after I download it... :P

What I'm saying is that I want an option that allows ktorrent to assume whaever it assumes about the data it knows its there (because it download it or because a previous check data was made) and don't recheck that data. Only check if the data that is assumed missing is already there (because I manually put it in there).

I'm not saying to remove the "Check data" option, only that a "Check data (only missing)" option should be added

Hello

I thought about the case a bit and i think i could hack such a check only missing function in.
However, i now belive it would be a much better solution to make a "replace file" or "import file" option that imports an external file and replaces the (incompletly downloaded) file in the torrent with it.

That sould serve my and (hopefully) i23098's purpose and is much cleaner than a manual file replace in the download dir. It is propably harder to implement, though.

I dont think that KTorrent knows if any of the data downloaded is OK till its downloaded and checked.
ie. a 500mb file would have to have its data checked before KT knows. and if its checked after 200mb the 201st mb can be bad, and when you have downloaded 300mb you would only check the last 200, but still the 201st would be bad cause it has not been checked.

I have seen KT say a torrent has been downloaded and is 100% complete, yet still the data is broken, and I would have to delete the broken file and then set KT to check the data and find the missing file and then download it again.

How about we just add an option to check all the chunks of an individual file or even multiple files ?

That would also work, although I would have to select the files :-P. But it's a good solution if it make people like Jesper don't confuse what the option really does... (check all the chunks that KT assumes not downloaded)

I think it's a good consensus solution :D
