Normally (after start) ktorrent load CPU on 1-3%. After open main window load = 45-60%. If i close main window cpu load = 15-25%. After restart again 1-3%. Sorry for my english. Ktorrent 3.1.4, kde 4.1.3, debian sid.

3.1.5 don't in repository, only 3.1.4 and 3.2 beta1. Compile manually not fun . I'll test 3.2 beta1, a same after close main window it load 15%-20%, in time main window open cpu load ~50%.

3.1.5 is not in sid because I want lenny ktorrent version to match sid version in case major issues had to be fixed. Anyway, I suggest you use 3.2~ series.

Back to the topic, how many torrents do you have? How fast is your CPU?

Ignore what I said earlier, Debian unstable is going to get 3.1.5 in 6-9 hours.

~45 torrents. CPU AMD Duron 1300.
