[3.2dev] Useless Data Check window.

Sat Jan 10, 2009 7:47 pm
Usually when I run data check or it's automatically started when torrent downloaded I don't care how many chunks already there and how many not. I think almost everyone don't care. Everyone looks at "% complited" but who care how many chunks not there? There no data about size of 1 chunk, no summary in Mbs, no % of process, nothing, only amount of chunks which growth from 0 to unknown value. Usually I don't want to see Data Check window, but this window always appear. :( I want to see this window only when I add incomplete but removed torrent back to kTorrent, but I still don't want to see whole data check process in additional window!
In uTorrent this function implemented in status column. When you start check process you can see there somesing like "Checked: 34%" and in "% complited" you see values from 0% up to current state which dynamically changes with % in state column. But in u Torrent Data Check window doesn't exist at all.
So, maybe will be good to add "Hide" button to this window, show it by default when you add torrent and kTorrent found something already downloaded, add property "Don't show Data Check window" somewhere in configuration window and implement same method to show data check status like in uTorrent.
Or, maybe, will be good to remove this window completely and replace it with uTorrent method.
(I always compare all torrent-clients with uTorrent because I never seen something better. But uTorrent don't have builds for any version of Linux and too slow and ugly-looking when started under WINE).

What isn`t remembered never happened. Memory is merely a record. You just need to rewrite that record.

Can I read somewhere about planned features to prevent asking about already planned things?
