Hi all, this is my first post, i am bit new to this forum thingy, so will get stright to the point.
1) add filter to only show torrents in certain states (Downloading/Seeding/All) so speed adjustments descisions can be much easier/clearer. 2) sum up the limits set, so eg. to show if the sum of the Limits/assured speeds <= Global speed limit. And option to only sum up if that torrent is active. And ... 3) show the torrent state (Downloading/Seeding) in a new coloumn. These improvments will help me greatly, I hope others agree. |

4) I can find it difficult to see the limits set, maybe have any Limits set displayed in a different colour to the unset limits/assured speeds.

Why I've voted "no".
1. Just useless. Sort them by state. 2. Too complicated and almost useless. 3. We already have column "Status" and it's enough. What you want to see in two columns? Downloaded/Seeding? 1 column more then enough. 4. New column with actual limits for torrents will be better.
What isn`t remembered never happened. Memory is merely a record. You just need to rewrite that record.

It looks like you misunderstand, I'm talking about the 'Speed limits' dialog (I am using KTorrent 3.2.1), not the main window - so 3) there isn't a status column in this dialog.
1) I agree, and is made redundant by 3) 2) it's not that hard, just a few conditional adding sums, and for example would let me see if I could sustain all Assured speeds at max speed without going over the global limit. 4) colours will help all those dyslexics out there. |

2) Yon can't go over global limit. As I understand you want manually set upload speed for all active torrents. But... What happen when 1 torrent become passive? You will lose upload bandwidth and ration (if you use private trackers). If 1 more torrent become active -- this torrent will cut part of upload bandwidth from other torrents.
Also there is a problem with conditional calculations. As I written above torrents change active/passive state over time. While you changing limits for one torrent to fit maximum upload bandwidth other torrents can change they state and change calculated value. 3) Hm... It's not very useful for me... but not useless. Ok, I'm understand. 4) I think there is better way. I propose to colorize all speed values in all places by one configurable table of colors. 1 new tab in preferences with 3 or 4 predefined colors and speed regions, and ability to change these colors and regions. When limit or speed value in one of these regions -- value will be colorized.

2) A passive torrent wouldn't matter if you are using 'Assured Upload Speed' as this is a minimum target speed, and the rest of the upload speed would be shared between the rest.
1/3) Thanks for understanding, we all have different needs. 4) I like that idea, but have a nice default colour scheme though. Also all of my suggestions are purely cosmetic, none of them alter the way downloading/seeding actually works. |

2) What I should of said in my first post, and would of avoided the misunderstanding,is that I meant inactive = Queued, oops

( An old version of the dialog but enough to make my point clearer. ) Sorry if I sound like I am repeating myself: In this window it cannot be seen if the torrents are downloading or seeding or Queued. I would like to have some way of either highlighting the status, or have a dropdown box to choose what is visible. (status updates to the dialog don't have to be live, could just be a snapshot) Then we can easily set our speeds for a downloading torrent or a seeding torrent - without having to constantly look back at the main window to see the status, and with my system with over 100 torrents on the list (20 active - not in Queue), this can take a while especially on a remote desktop over a wireless network (headless server). The summing I mentioned earlier would be handy to see if for example to see if the theoretical total speed of the "assured upload"s of the un-Queued torrents is below or at the global upload limit. This will help assure the speeds set in this dialog. For Example: Torrent 1: Assured upload 15K Torrent 2: Assured upload 10K Maximum upload speed: 20K (global upload limit) Sum of assured upload speeds: 25K (5K too short of assuring all upload speeds) The same could also be applied for download too. I see a lot of page views, but not many votes/replies, I hope this may change that. |
