Feature Request: Use cookies

Sat Oct 10, 2009 9:32 pm
I'd like to suggest that KT use the appropriate cookies from my browser when loading a torrent by url.

Some sites require the right cookies to be set when retrieving the torrent file. When I click a link or type the url into the browser, the file is retrieved and passed to KT for processing. But if I use
Code: Select all
qdbus org.ktorrent.ktorrent /core loadSilently $URL $GROUP
in a shell script, the torrent fails to load because with no cookies being supplied, the site doesn't send the .torrent file, it sends an error page instead. Same goes for using the Net::DBus module in a Perl script. (Both these methods work just fine if the site doesn't require cookies.)

Right now I have to download the .torrent file and pass a file:///tmp/some_file url to the loadSilently() method.

Uh, while I'm asking, what about if the load() and loadSilently() methods returned the info-hash of the newly loaded torrent rather than void?

Thanks...

Normally cookies should be used. Are you sure you are logged in into the site ? Logins can expire.

Yes, I am logged in on the browser. I'm using Firefox 3.5.2 which stores cookies in: ~/.mozilla/firefox/ksad23hf.default/cookies.sqlite

Use konqueror, it uses KIO like ktorrent does, so cookies are shared.
