With latest revision there is a problem when connecting to peers, hence very low download speed.
Enabling logging shows a lot of connection timeouts occuring in less than a second (shouldn't it wait longer?).

Code: Select all
Tue Jan 5 01:20:04 2010: Authentication to xxx.xxx.170.236 : failure
Tue Jan 5 01:20:04 2010: Initiating connection to xxx.xxx.170.236
Tue Jan 5 01:20:04 2010: Timeout occurred
Tue Jan 5 01:20:04 2010: Authentication to xxx.xx.38.211 : failure
Tue Jan 5 01:20:04 2010: Initiating connection to xxx.xx.38.211
Tue Jan 5 01:20:04 2010: Timeout occurred
...

Downgrading to 4.0b1 fixes the problem.

It's not timeouts, the timer interval hasn't changed, those are probably timeouts from older connection attempts. I will do a comparison with 4.0beta1, to see if I can reproduce this.

I can reproduce it, not sure yet which commit caused it.

I have fixed the problem in rev 1070777.

It turns out we were sending some badly encoded protocol extension handshakes. Resulting in peers dropping connections to us.
