Before I made a bug report, I searched the forum and such, didn't see anything similar to this, so I figured I would ask first.
I normally never have any issues with Ktorrent, but I recently was downloading a torrent that had 100,000+ seeders and Ktorrent would crash every time within a minute or two of starting the torrent. If I left the torrent stopped, it was fine. As soon as I started it, after a minute or so, another crash. Anyone else seen this before? Here is a link to the torrent, if anyone was curious. https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/544122 ... %5Beztv%5D |

Post a backtrace of the crash, also what version are you using ?

Well, that's my issue, can't get a good backtrace. I've tried to download and compile the latest version, but for some reason, the compile always fails. So I've just been using the packages for my distro to keep up to date. Ktorrent 3.3.1 Distro: Mandriva 2010.0 This is the only time I've ever seen KTorrent crash, so it took me by surprise. |

Doesn't the KDE crash dialog generate a backtrace ?

All this time later and I'm still unable to compile a version to help you guys out.
My latest attempt was starting with the libktorrent, and while it's a pain to go hunting for packages, I got them all in. After attempting a compile everything appears fine until it hangs with this error
I'm doing enough programming myself to understand what the error is, but kind of weary of trying to fix this myself since it's looking for a function that isn't in the source for some reason. Any suggestions or work around? |

That compile error indicates you are using a KDE version older then 4.4. Recent versions (4.0.3 or later) don't support that version anymore.

Using 4.3.5, so I'm glad someone knew what the error pertained to. I can't really help then if the source is always going to be compiled against a cutting edge version of KDE Might be a good thing on the main site to list what version of KDE the source needs to be compiled against, been racking my brain all year trying to figure out why I could never get it to compile across a lot of different distros. Now I know why, LOL. |
