I2P support?

Tue Apr 13, 2010 4:46 pm
Hello
I wonder if there are any plans to add I2P network support. The performance of this network is very good when you compare it to Tor. Also, the user base is slowly growing. However the built in torrent client controlled via web browser is rather inconvenient in use. Would it take much effort to add I2P to KTorrent? Would it be a plugin or rather change it KTorrent code?

Not at the moment.

I know to little of I2P to make a serious estimation on effort. But chances are it probably requires changes deep into KT's networking code.

If you're on ubuntu, have a look at launchpad . net/~i2p.packages/

This link may prove helpful for any testing of ktorrent with i2p:
https://www.i2p2.de/debian

ktorrent has a few things going for it for i2p:
1.) Uses same DHT protocol as I2P
2.) Has proxy support (unlike a few other torrent applications)
3.) Opensource

Allowing the *.i2p domain ending to pass through as-is was a good first step toward porting.
