In "KTorrent 4.0beta2 released" one change is "Individual torrents can now be paused (downloading and uploading is stopped, but connections are kept alive), this has resulted in the pausing of the queue to be renamed to suspend".
This behaviour is really bad for trackers that have some system to bonificate users that mantain torrents, µTorrent also have this one and making torrents to be active but with 0kb/s up down is a real mess for that bonification systems, because the user remains reporting. If you can consider to remove this feature, even the old one, pause all torrent. Thanks for reading. |

So don't use that feature on those trackers?

True however the tracker could just check the amounts reported and if that doesn't change, then the peer isn't actively uploading or downloading, and then you can decide not to reward those peers. |

Yeah we thought about it, also we thogut counting the leechers and if there are leechers 0 kb/s doesn't bouus, but if there are no leechers 0 kb/s could bonus, the bonus is for stay not for upload (is a bonus for the people with low bandwith but keeps torrents really active), but is imposible to be sure if someone stay paused or stay really active. Another one could be not be able to pause private torrents. Anyway, pause is a real mess, is an useless way to waste bandwidth, but no problem if people wants it, only I ask if it could be removed or, at least not allowed for private torrents. If it's not possible, we have no problem at all. |

Well more info about the pause feature, in µTorrent at least the last version in pause mode only stays in pause the two next reports since the pause, the third one µTorrent stops the torrent. Pherhaps is possible to implement pause in this way for the final version of KTorrent?
