Promiscuous seeding mode?

Mon May 17, 2010 9:20 pm
Hi guys,

Some torrent sites (most private trackers) require you to keep a minimum upload/download ratio. In the case of these sites, it would be nice to have a promiscuous mode.

Here's what I'm thinking:
When KTorrent is busy downloading, it actively tries to connect to other peers. However, AFAICT it stops this behaviour when seeding. What I propose is a per-torrent option to make KTorrent actively try to connect to peers when seeding (or, if it already has this, do so more). This would allow someone who recently imported a completed torrent to begin seeding faster.

If you think this i feasible, I would happily contribute a patch to do so, but I have yet to look at the KTorrent source code and am still a bit of a beginner as far as Qt is concerned.

Keep up the good work!

KT doesn't stop connecting when it is seeding.
