Again. When ktorrent is running all the system becomes sluggish, but CPU usage at this time does not exceed 5-10%. Downloading speed is about 1MB/s (8Mbps).

Even scrolling in firefox becomes choppy and closing ktorrent (or stopping all torrents) improves the situation.

Not only in firefox, in dolphin too

I had a similar situation with kTorrent 4.0.1 slowing down browsing (and the rest of my system) even though it wasn't using much CPU. The problem was completely solved by switching my router firmware from stock OEM to Tomato firmware. Even before I customized any quality of service settings, the router became much better at allowing browsing traffic to take priority over kTorrent and other traffic. Setting QoS (according to various helpful guides online) improved things even more, and browsing is fast now, even with 2900 seeding torrents. It's worth a try if you're interested.
