Hi!

The footer KTorrent is appearing and disappearing, giving the sensation that is blinking. I am attaching two images, one showing the footer and another missing. Even after I close and reopen KTorrent the problem still continues.

Is KT consuming a lot of CPU when this happens ? How easily can you trigger this ?

Yes, KT is consuming a lot of CPU, what makes X process consumes very much CPU too. If I close KT interface, and it goes to status bar, the CPU goes back to normal. I can reproduce the problem when I use the graphics plugin to display speed and connection count.

The X CPU usage is probably due to the oxygen style (it uses rather advanced stuff which some graphics drivers don't like very much). My guess is that this should also explain the flashing labels (see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=250884 for more information).

Try changing the style to QtCurve or something else, and see what happens.

So the only thing which really worries is the actual high CPU usage of ktorrent. Does this high CPU usage take time to manifest itself or does it happen immediately when you load the statistics plugin ?

I disabled all plugins and the CPU problem is still happening. What I noticed is that if I click in the plugins icon and keeps there the CPU dont goes high. Then if I goes back to Torrents icon the X process consumes about 25% and the KTorrent process 45% of my CPU. The problem with the labels still happens with all plugins disabled.

The problem with CPU usage occurs even with Compiz or KWin and even with oxygen or other styles. Both CPU problem and the label problem doesn't occour in the "plugins tab". They only occour in the "torrent tab" and with Ktorrent not minimized to tray.

One more thing that I noticed is that the problem with the labbels doesn't occours with the DHT label. Maybe is because I'm not using it and it's not refreshing.

I think I know what the problem is, it should already be fixed in trunk.

Gonna backport the solution to the stable branch.
