odd behavior with specific tracker

Sat Mar 19, 2011 12:06 am
Hi, I've been noticing that for some time ktorrent has not been announcing fully upon starting a torrent with a specific tracker (tvtorrents.com). All of the tracker information like seeds, and leechers are 0, and a manual announce fills those in. I'm not entirely sure what's wrong, but it does effect the speed of the download/upload, as only a few peers manage to connect if I don't do a manual announce. Its as if its only half announced..

Thanks :)

I have noticed that the torrent doesn't seem to run at full speed till a second announce is done though.

Seeing that the first announce, returns a list of peers, things should start going after the first announce. Are you sure, it's not just impatience ?

Not 100% sure it isn't. But I have seen torrents stalled for tens of minutes only to start up just after I do a manual announce. And even if the torrent isn't stalled, the speed almost always picks up right after the manual announce.

As soon as I see it happen again. But I haven't been paying as close attention to it lately as I have been.

I have the same problem. I have to wait for hours for ktorrent to start torrents from tvtorrents.com, the ones that are waiting right now have been waiting for six hours. I've done two manual announces that didn't seem to help one bit. I have also seen a reduced speed in the torrents when they actually begin downloading, though I don't think it's always the case.
I'm running version 3.3.4.

I've seen the problem come an go for some time, though I changed clients for some time because I got so tired of it. It used to help to restart the program, then it would start the torrents right away, but it doesn't help at all anymore. At least not in a way that's very obvious, since it still takes some time to start the torrents.
