Hi,

In many torrents there are a whole lot of trackers and the number of peers in the main window shows the sum of all seeders and leechers of all trackers. I assume this number is pretty bogus since many peers are connected to many trackers.

I wrote a patch where you optionally can chose to just display the number of peers from the greatest tracker.

Please try it out :)

Yes, seeing that ktorrent doesn't know which peers announce to which tracker, the number is somewhat bogus. Though using the biggest numbers is probably also not completely accurate.

Of course it's not accurate. but I would like to argue that it gives a bigger hint on the swarm size then the current method. Anyway, is there any interest of merging this patch or do features like this bloat the application and library?

I'm not going to add an option in the GUI to choose between the two modes. It's going to be one of the two modes, haven't made up my mind yet which is the best mode.

+1 for using "biggest number"

Reason: It would be more accurate than multiple counting the same peer across a dozen different trackers. Example, I'm currently showing 2,074 Leachers in the main window, and in the Tracker tab the max Leechers is 265, out of 14 active Trackers.

We could also get silly, and request a mean, median, or mode. In that case I'd like the median of the max values, excluding outliers and zeros...

Best,
Sam

Okay, this statement seems wrong? And correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't each tracker send back the full list of peers? If so, wouldn't just cleaning out dups, give the best 'answer?'

The amount of peers the tracker returns is limited, if there aren't that many, you can get the full list, but if there are many, you get less.
