4,2 'stalled bug'

Wed Aug 24, 2011 7:44 pm
Hi, The 'stalled bug' is still present. I did a git pull and rebuild yesterday but no joy. I use a script to add and queue torrents. When adding new torrents or when a torrent is un queued, After a while (say 20 torrents complete etc) instead of going from state stalled to state downloading they remain at stalled forever. I have looked at the tracker info, some say Err in red, some are ok. I hope this info helps. I hope you can fix this soon as I have spent ages on my auto search and dld script and Id hate to move to transmission because i've aways consedered Kt to be the best around.

Let me know if you need any info. using my script I can test KT pretty well and it seems there are some file handling bugs also not found etc. Ive seen it crash out a couple of times too.

How many peers do these stalled torrents have ? And how many torrents are running at the same time ?

Hi George, I just confirmation that the bug is there. I've been running a script all morning to find and add torrents. It stops adding when there are 5 queued torrents and will allow 20 torrent to be added before queuing. I had a look at the status of the torrents 5 were downloading and 15 were stalled. I then restarted ktorrent and 16 started downloading within about 10 seconds, meaning that something was causing the torrents to remain stalled until a reboot. The number of leaches seeds is usually quite low, about 1,2,3.

The file crash is when it says it can't find a file asking me if I want re recreate etc. If I click on cancel here KT completely crashes out. It could be that my script has decided it does not like the torrent and asked kt to delete it via dbus. maybe a race condition where kt does not know this has happened?

<thinking about cron job to restart kt every 15 mins :( >

Thanks

Chris

Does restarting the torrents, or doing a manual announce help ?

This could be dangerous indeed, and will probably lead to a crash. It's actually a problem where most dialogs which do something with a torrent will suffer from.

I've just realized the port forwarding on my router was not what KT was expecting. I've not seen the problem since using the same port. Though it does not explain why most of the torrents started after a kt restart (still with the wrong port forwarding). I'l let you know if it happens again and I try manual announce or restart. Since its been working for 2 days now I doubt it will come back. So I suppose its a problem that only shows up when it cant accept connections?

It just happened again after about 5 hours of downloading. The torrents have available peers but KT is not using them i.e. it shows 0(9) etc. I was downloading about 15 when it happened, where about 7 were stalled. A KT restart resulted in all torrents moving to download state.

Thanks

Hello,
I am facing this 'stalled' issue as well. It runs fine for a few days and at some seemingly random point new torrents (automatically downloaded from Syndication) will remain at 0% and stalled.
A 'manual announce' doesn't help, only restarting Ktorrent works.

Running Ktorrent 4.1.1 on Linux Mint 12 (kernel 3.0.0-17)

Any help will be much appreciated!
