The first release candidate for the next stable release is here. A release candidate of the 1.2 release for libktorrent is also available.

This is a testing release but it should be pretty stable. It contains mostly small new things, improvements and performance fixes. For a full overview of all the changes, take a look in the ChangeLog files in the tar balls.

I just compiled the release on slackware64-current and when I run ktorrent I do not see any window. I can do a ps -ef and I see ktorrent is running, but no window! Even when I go to system activity and do a show window, it does not bring any window to the foreground.

I am running kde-4.7.4, linux-3.3.0-rc1

CPU usage in 4.2 rc1 much higher than in 4.1.3 (not less than 30%).

Plugins the same as was enabled in 4.1.3 ktipfilterplugin, ktmagnetgeneratorplugin, ktdownloadorderplugin, ktinfowidgetplugin.
CPU usage becomes about 30% when 15 active torrents but the same torrents amount was in 4.1.3 without such CPU usage.
Maybe high CPU usage depends not on torrents count but on download/upload speed - if it becomes 4 megabytes/s, then CPU usage 30%, if 5 megabytes/s then 32% or more.

The biggest CPU hog is probably caculating SHA1 hashes at 4 or 5 MB/s.

The question is, is it worse then 4.1.3 under similar circumstances ?

CPU usage in 4.1.3 about 15% (or even less) with similar circumstances.

The most likely culprit for this problem is fixed in the master branch.

I tried this commit
http://quickgit.kde.org/index.php?p=lib ... 49a06806f3

Now CPU usage bacame as it was in 4.1.3 - about < 15%
