Hey I am not completely familiar with the torrent protocol but I was wondering if it is possible to develop something so that the torrent software gathers the swarm packets in a 'kind of' sequential manner instead of random. i understand that this will definitely slow down the download process but my main question is whether this is a possibility.
This way specifically for video files...they can be streamed while they are being downloaded... |

This has been possible for several releases now, just open the video in the media player plugin and ktorrent will start downloading it sequentially. And even pause the video if not enough data is available and then resume when there is.

It works indeed, but I prefer to watch it in my player of choice (mplayer) since the videos don't work well in ktorrent. Would it be possible to make this feature more easily accessible?

The thing is that I can't control external players. In order to have a good user experience, the video needs to stop when the data is not yet there.
I can make it more explicit in the user interface, but you are on your own, when there is no data available. |

The adding of streaming was a great idea!
However, there are some important missing functions considering the player itself - it is not possible to play a certain audio track (in the movie) or add subtitles. Thank you! |

Just pause the vid. in the internal media player and play the incomplete file using VLC or whatever player you wish to use.

Any chance this could become incorporated feature, it's not mentioned in feature list? I imagine at this point players would support api for pausing and stuff.
