I installed subversion via YaST, then typed in each of the commands given in rezlo's post. Every step seemed to work. Basically, what I was left with was a (new) ktorrent directory in my home folder. It seems that the new version was placed there. I ran ktorrent again, both from the start menu and from inside the ktorrent/apps/ktorrent directory, but both times it loaded up the old version (1.1rc1) according to the "About ktorrent" tab. It still sucks up my memory and crashes.
Is there something I missed? I typed in each command exactly as they were listed here... maybe that was my mistake? Should I have cd'd to the existing ktorrent directory or something? And I was so happy that the whole process seemed to go off without a hitch. Baltika |

Hi all,
my copy of Ktorrent 1.1.0 is also crashing and when I try the previous method "make -f Makefile.cvs" gives the error that I do not have the last version of Autoconf (but I have!) So my question is: when will the next version of KTorrent for Suse be released? (without the error). I think that Bittorrent for Linux is ****, and there is no alternative to fill the gap to the next release. Willem |

I had that error, too, on SUSE 10.0. I'm not sure just exactly what fixed it, but what I did was install KDE and kernel '-devel' packages using Yast. That sorted the problem out. Also, make sure make is installed (I'm pretty sure it will be, but it wasn't by default for me). |

I already have the kernel devel installed, and I am using KDE, but the error still occurs. When will the next update be released? |

Joris mentioned that a release candidate would be (possibly) available on Dec 20th. |

I had the same problem with compiling the development version (the autoconf error.) Even though the error message keeps complaining about autoconf, you need to install automake (make sure to use a newer version also.) You also need the qt and kde dev stuff (needed to compile any KDE app). After I installed all that, it compiled with no problems.
To the developers: Ktorrent is a great program, I hope you guys keep up your momentum on it! |
