I installed SUSE 10 last week. This has KTorrent, so I tried it out. It looks nice, but I have a strange problem. From time to time it crashes. Because it is compiled without debug information, I have no idea what is happening.
Anybody that knows the problem and knows what to do about it? |

I am having the same problem. I started it from a terminal, and received this error:
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3 Major opcode: 7 Minor opcode: 0 Resource id: 0x4600094 Running SuSE 10.0 Retail, and trying to download a 2.05GB DVD image. |

SuSE 10.0 includes 1.1rc1 version. Please update to the newest stable 1.1.
It seems that some other users also have problems downloading big files with 1.1rc1 on SuSE 10 (see this) |

Distro: LFS
Qt: 3.3.4 KDE: 3.4.0 ktorrent: 1.1 (everything compiled from sources) ktorrent occasionally (a few dozen times a day, actually once or twice every hour ![]() Anyone familiar with that? Also, is there a cvs/svn tree available somewhere? |

Yes, I'm familiar with that problem - it solved in the svn version, for the svn tree check this link: http://ktorrent.pwsp.net/index.php?page=faq#q3 |

It seems that anonsvn.kde.org is not available. Everytime I try to connect I receive, "Can't connect to host... Connection refused." I even tried to alter the path by using websvn.kde.org/trunk/extragear/network/ktorrent/ |

My other thread (http://ktorrent.pwsp.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=128) has been closed, I will update here.
After upgrading to v1.1, I noticed the additional information, namely the metrics in the lower portion of the screen. Take note of the "Tracker" status information. I opened port 4444 UDP for my IP address and after about 10 minutes saw that the status ws "OK." So, I am wondering the 2-5 minutes of downloading and the subsequent freeze was due to port 4444 UDP not being forwarded on my firewall. Ktorrent has been running and downloading for about 20 minutes without incident. I want to witness the benefits of the torrent. I will post to this thread should I experience further problems. |

I thought forwarding port 4444 UDP would resolve the hangs. CPU (3.2GHz) utilization is ~90%, RAM (512MB) 509MB used.
Ktorrent still hangs, it is running, but I have no GUI... very annoying. |

The UDP tracker port is only used when a torrent uses an UDP tracker, most torrents use http trackers, this has nothing to do with the freeze.
There is a bug in 1.1 which will cause an infinite loop, if you want to get rid of the bug you have 2 options : - download the SVN version - wait for the soon to be released 1.2rc1 (around december 20) |

This is probably a stupid question, but here goes anyway...
I've got the crashing problem, too. I absolutely love ktorrent, though, and didn't want to replace it with anything (so I'm very relieved that it's just a minor *fixable* problem!!). Anyway, I've nearly downloaded quite a few torrents, and it's crashing once an hour or so. If I do this upgrade (via svn), would I be able to continue downloading my torrents where I left off, or would I have to start all over again? Now you all know I'm a newbie... my cover is blown... ![]() Thanks for any info, Baltika |

Yes, you can. Just restart KTorrent once you've installed the SVN version and away you go. It will load all previous torrents. I just upgraded to the latest SVN version on my SUSE 10.0 system and it fixes infinite loop crashes. |
