You don't need to download...the file's already there

Hi,

Often I find torrents that have no seeds. I download the file from a mirror, then seed it. This has been easy in Azureus--at launch it sees the completed file, verifies the hash & starts uploading; but I can't figure out how to tell ktorrent "You don't need to download...the file's already there!"

Thanks,

Lance

If you checkout the latest version from SVN, you should be able to.

installation package

If you checkout the latest version from SVN...

Glad to here it's in the pipeline! I'll wait 'till it's finished & I can install it with kpackage or synaptic.

As a user, (not a geek); Linux will be perfect as soon as the command console moves from "depreciated" to "no longer supported".

The commandline is far to usefull and powerfull to be even considered deprecated.

GUI

I know...I just like to keep programmers reminded that users really do hate the command line.

Thanks so much for all you do!

Hardly. Newbie users hate the command line. Power users LOVE it. You don't have to be a programmer to be a power user.

I'll second that. While the command line is not very user friendly, i.e. you can't point'n'click, it more than makes up for that in usefulness (e.g. no GUI problems, faster execution speed). I'm not a programmer either, and I quite enjoy using the command line.

I'm guessing what he means is that the average user should not even have to touch the Konsole/xterm/eterm/Terminal/YaKuake for absolutely anything.

I think we're nearing that point, but not quite there. I agree with him that the user should not have to worry about the guts of the machine - if they don't want to. I'm a power user and like the command line, but many people don't.

I'm also a power user - but the different is that I don't like the command line.

If the GUI is good and programs interakts well you don't need it, and this is also the main reson to use KDE. and the main reson for me to move from Azureus to KTorrent (Azureus didn't interakt well with KDE).

Even so I use the command line at least once a week - just because the GUI isn't perfekt yet - It's no way to use portage from GUI (OK, well it is you can use porthole - witten in python and GTK+ - dosen't interakt well with KDE)

If there was a GUI frontend for portage (in KDE) and a good frontend for MPlayer (in KDE) i shuld never use the command line other then if something fails.

OK, you can look in the latest versions of Windows - the comand line is nerly useless. everything is done throw GUI and everything CAN be done throw GUI.

I said GOOD frontend - I AM using KMplayer but it isn't very good, you can't change Audio/Subtitle track - to load external subtitles you need to open the configuration dialog. And a lot of options that MPlayer support can't be set in the GUI.

Well, it plays the movies I want it to play, I do not care about subtitles that much. So for me it is a good application.
