KTorrent picking wrong locale

Sun Jan 15, 2006 12:42 am
Using 1.2_rc1, it seems that I get Japanese text throughout most of the application, a problem that I don't recall happening at all on 1.1.

My system locale is set as...
Code: Select all
LANG=en_AU.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_AU.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=

My KDE locale is set to prefer British English, then US English, then Japanese (some app I have required it to be available to show messages at all, so I just have it at lowest priority.)

We don't even have a japanese translation in 1.2rc1, if you run it from a konsole like this :

KDE_LANG=en_US ktorrent

What happens then ?

That works. Runs in English mode.

If there isn't a Japanese translation in 1.2_rc1 yet, then I wonder where it came from... almost the entire interface is in Japanese, perhaps some files have somehow been left over from my 1.1 install.

I don't know how this can happen, the kde libraries handle this and should pick the translation for the language you selected as default. KDE_LANG is just a way to override this.
