I was seeing this in the KTorrent speed indicator. So it was telling me it was uploading way past my cap I set it at.

No, I am not using SVN. I am using the Deb package of 1.2 on your download page.

Speed Limits

Thu Mar 30, 2006 4:58 am
1.2 is ignoring speed limits when the torrent goes from being part of the swarm uploading/downloading to when it completes and goes to seeding. At that point it ignores my upload speed limit. If this is fixed in the source let me know and I guess I will compile my own (currently Using 1.2 debian sid from this site)

I will examine this when I have some more time. But maybe somebody else running SVN can confirm if this scenario still happens.

I don't know what's going wrong:
I had the problem with ignored speed limits with my KT 1.2, so I downloaded and installed the latest SVN version today, but the problem remained: even after a restart, the upload speed exceeded 60 times and more the limit I set. But astonishingly not all the time, and surprisingly it became less after enhancing the speed limit (unfortunately on a level no longer enabling a reasonable share ratio)-:

Are you sure you are running the latest SVN, because the upload speed limit should work fine. ?

here a little evidence for my problem:

After playing with DHT enabling it seemed, after several crashes, to become better, but after a while, it started leeching wantonly again.

Interesting, I haven't tested KT much with really low donwload speed limits.

There is one thing which could be causing this, but only for a couple of seconds, we do not do any capping until we hit 75 % of the speed limit, then we start capping. So it can jump over the limit if you have a really fast downloader who starts downloading suddenly, but then it should be brought back to the limit after a couple of seconds.

Is this constantly going over the limit, or is the speed jumping over and under the limit constantly ?

With the GUI opened, it fluctates between 25 and 70 KB/s, sometimes up to 110, and while KT is only in the Tray, the rate is approximately constant at 120 KB/s (my ADSL downstream limit)
