99.90%, stalled?

Wed Jan 25, 2006 7:03 am
I've tried restarting KTorrent, and starting and stopping this one download, but it's sitting on 99.90% and says it's stalled.

Any idea what would stop KTorrent downloading that last chunk which I need to complete the file?

Does anybody has the chunk (i.e. is the available chunks bar blue) ?

Could be that nobody has that chunk, or the only peer who has it, is uploading it very slowly to somebody else.

I've had that happen to me on a few occasions. It's usually down to that particular chunk being very rare. I just had to wait and eventually got it.

Available of the ability of the chunk was fine... but I think I'm saved anyway, a newer version of the same file became available so I'll probably have to grab that instead anyway.

I am having this problem from time to time - KTorrent lives one or a few chunks and dosen't requst for them.

Somtimes it is solved by sopping and starting the torrent some times I need to restart KTorrent....

Same issue here. A previous download finalized after many days, a few start/stops of the torrent and a restart of KTorrent throughout.

However, a current download is hanging and I notice under the Chunks tab that Chunk240 is available from 54 peers, but the progress is listed as 36343777/32 and refuses to change despite intermittent DLing.

I didn't investigate the previous DL (above) during which this happened so no comparison. Just let that one crunch away hidden and chalked it up to unavailability. Any thoughts?

KDE 3.4.2
KTorrent 1.2RC2
Slackware 10.1

Wow something is going wrong there :-)

Have you tried the 1.2 release ?

Just compiled 1.2 and same download is underway.

Still showing 3634377/32 for the last chunk, despite 15 total peers (so far) and 1 assigned peer for that chunk.

Send me that torrent, because there is something weird going on.

See the FAQ for my e-mail address :

Using 1.2 on SUSE 10.0 I get the same thing. It happened with another file before, but since this is the second time, I thought I'll write. The download is stuck at 99.89%, 1 chunk is missing since forever (well yesterday :) ). There are 20 seeders available, and I am connected to 6 of them. Tried stopping, restarting. Will try quitting now.

Any ideas?

[update] Ok, I tried quitting and restarting and that helped. ktorrent is definitely running too stable, it was running for at least a week, now it should crash more often!
Anyway, something is definitely fishy here.

To anybody who has noticed this problem, is there some sort of patern in this problem ? Does it only happen with single file torrents or only with multi file torrents, or does it happen with both ?

Mine was a multi-file download on both occasions.

Mine too, if my memory don't let me down the second file was a demonoid.txt file with a very small size.
