Install on Linspire

Sat Mar 04, 2006 3:26 am
Any suggestions on how to install on Linspire? Somebody gave me a PC with this Linux distro preinstalled. I am not overly Linux savvy. So I'd love to get some information on a) which version to download and b) how to install it and use it.

Linspire comes with something called Click N Run which supposedly makes it easy to install K Torrent but that costs me 20 bucks a year, so I am looking to see if I can do it by myself.

THanks

Isn't linspire debian based ? I guess if you have the right repositiories you can try apt-get install ktorrent.

Alternatively there is allways the possibility to install from source.

Yep Linspire is debian based, but i would be carefull with using other distro-based debian files:
I know i got my system tear me a new one once when i used a deb file from packages.debian.org

So i think it's best to compile from source if you don't want to use the CNR. Poke the search for 'headers' to find a thread with packages you need to install first for being able to compile.
