This thread is probably duplicate to 247 and 278.

I have recently recompiled Ktorrent 1.2 with gcc 4.1. There is no other than upnp plugin available  As far as I remember Ktorrent 1.2 run with gcc 3.4.5 fine.

I have gzipped the emerge log - just in case someone is interested.

Here is some basic information about my system.

Neither cleaning system of any previous instalation and/or profile nor running kbuildsycoca has solved anything so far. Thanks for any help.

Did you remove the previous KT version before emerging with gcc 4.1?

I had a similar problem a while back and solved it by removing the installed KT version and compiling afterwards. Compiling a new verion over an old one seems to cause problems with the plugins. Emerge compiles the new version first, then removes the old version, so that might be causing it.

Ok, I will give it a try and post results.

Bingo! Unmerge && emerge solved the problem. I do not understand it - I have unmerged (emerge -C) ktorrent several times while testing other kt versions. Now it works.

Thanks a lot.

I installed the SVN version yesterday and had the problem of no plugins. I unmerged ktorrent, then followed the steps for installing the SVN version in the FAQ (+ 'make install', which isn't listed there - maybe add that?). Upon starting ktorrent, no plugins showed up. After a couple of hours of trying to figure out why (including several re-compiles and numerous 'kbuildsycoca'), I finally found the solution:

Use './configure --prefix=/usr' during the SVN compile. Simple, isn't it? If only I had known before... :)

So, any Gentooists (and possibly other distro users), if your plugins for the SVN version don't show up, locate the correct directory to install ktorrent into (the default is '/usr/kde/3.4' if I'm not mistaken).
