Hey guys,

I am trying to use ktorrent to download a torrent from a private tracker, but it is not working. I'm not connecting to any peers. In the "tracker" section of the info plugin, the tracker status says "invalid response".

I can provide an invite to this torrent community if the devs need one to make ktorrent work with its torrents.

Thanks!

What does the log say when tracker announce is triggered? (Load logviewer from Plugins section to check out)

Yeah oink's faq says that they've banned eDonkey (libtorrent).

I am not sure wheither they've banned all libtorrent based clients, or that it's that KTorrent isn't on a whitelist.
I guess the first. :(

PS. We might want to wait to v1.3 anyway, since the session stats and user-agent.(?)

We don't include the version string in the user-agent variable.

I will fix this shortly, so they can reallow development versions.

It's done already, but we'll probably have to wait until the next release so we can ask their administrators to remove KT from blacklist.

Yeah, asking for whitelisting on a svn client just wouldn't do it, and if we did, we might even get ourselves longer banned than needed.

Hmm, I was actually talking in the Oink IRC and one of the moderators said something about the reason that ktorrent was banned was because it "didn't implement the bittorrent protocol quite right" or something like that. What's that all about? Maybe the moderator may not have known what he was talking about. . .

Yeah, he might not know the real reason behind it or wasn't in the mood to supply it. I have my thoughts what it could be though.(and if i am right it's already fixed in svn)

No TMT his cheat detecion script caught KTorrent doing something it shouldn't do (whatever that would be), but i'll ask it ASAP so we can investigate this.(if you agree of course)

I asked, did my best, but basicly they said:

- ktorrent is libtorrent right? that could be the problem
- we have banned libtorrent long time ago, and it's unlikely it get off the blacklist
- if you're going to fix it, probably more users will be banned (how usefull)
- we're not going to tell you anything more because we want to protect our detection

So i think we can't do anything about it and we might just have to ignore this crew/tracker.

That is not true, I have seen some wikipedia page where this is mentioned, but this is certainly not true.

The confusion probably came from the fact that in previous versions of KT (1.1) the directory structure was different, and we had a directory named libtorrent, but this has nothing to do with libtorrent (the library).

That actually sounds quite likely.

As soon as the next stable is out, hopefully they'll let ktorrent back on. I'll ask about it in their IRC channel as soon as it comes out.

Yeah that was the reason why i said them KTorrent was indeed libtorrent based. :(
Anyway, i editted the wikipedia page about this. (DHT and encryption on alpha too)
